It is not always necessary to own a sprawling villa or a multi-storey house to show off design and decor magic. There are times when a tiny and apparently simple home steals the show with its remarkable concoction of textures, colours and intelligent planning. And that is what you will get to explore today with Casa Vitelli in Porto Sant’Elpidio, a picturesque town in Italy. Designed by the brilliant architects at Ossigeno Architettura, this vibrant and cosy little abode is a glorious union of rustic and modern elements. Contemporary ideas have been implemented to make the best use of available space, with an open plan layout. And equipped with quirky patterns and shapes, and sudden pops of lively hues, Casa Vitelli is all set to charm anyone who ventures into the house.

A clean and minimalistic facade

Just as you wouldn’t want to judge a book by its cover, don’t be fooled by the simple white and extremely unpretentious facade of this compact home. The windows lend a quaint appeal, while the steps leading to the interiors are simply cute! The neatness of the facade is what motivated us to take a look inside.

Excitement greets us and how!

The predominantly white interiors carry the legacy of the home’s facade, but delight us with its colourful and soulful offerings. The black couch with the patterned cushions promise cozy seating and a storage-friendly counter demarcates the kitchen area from the living zone subtly. The dining arrangement that you see on the far right is a vibrant affair with skeletal chairs. The lighting arrangement that shines over the table is breathtaking to say the least, with its colourful wires and bauble-like lamps. And the exposed brick wall with the large glass and wood door is definitely the rustic touch that reflects the owner’s love for everything earthy.

A geometrically inspired kitchen

The hexagonal black and white tiles on the kitchen backsplash are the focal point, no doubt. But the glossy white cabinets, the sleek and modern fixtures, and the potted greens contribute to the stylish yet homely aura here.

For the sake of serenity

The almost all-white bedroom is a tranquil oasis which can take away all your stress and worries in a jiffy. The brick finish wall behind the bed is resplendent in its rustic charm, while the dark wooden side table take care of both storage and display. The spotless white bedding paired with the gorgeously embroidered duvet and the dark velveteen pillows, beckon you to sink in and relax. Sheer white drapes let in ample sunlight and add a magical touch to the ambiance too.

When the sea beckons

The longish and cleverly planned bathroom is a heady mix of sober hues, modish sanitary wares, and an under-sink cabinet that is capable of storing anything and everything. But what caught our eye is the funky and bright lifebuoy hung near the long mirror. If this doesn’t make you want to head straight for a beach vacation, we don’t know what will.

Not the Monday morning blues

An enticing shade of royal blue paints its magic all over the passage which takes you inside the house from the outside. Remember the dainty white stairs we saw while perusing the facade. Those steps lead to these quirky white steps as you venture inside the home. And the result is a mind-blowing contrast which you are not likely to forget in a hurry.

So the house teaches us not to underestimate things by their size or appearance! You never know what treasures are hiding inside. If you are still looking for more inspiration though, take another tour - A Neat Looking Loft with Simplicity at its Core.
